Our trip to Wales in Woody the Luxury Camper Van
Adam and I (Trudi) took a trip to Wales in luxury camper Van “Woody”
We stayed at the Min-Y-Don camp-site in Harlech.
This is one of the cleanest and well-kept camp-sites we have seen and just a short walk from the gorgeous Harlech beach with spectacular sand dunes. It is also a stone’s throw from St David’s golf course and the lovely village of Harlech with it’s 13th century castle.
The April weather was gorgeous and we all had an amazing time, especially Coco our crazy Springer who loved running on Harlech beach. The great thing about this beach is that it is lined with sand dunes and a good distance away from the nearest road so she could run free without us worrying.
We visited Black Rock Sands – one of the only beaches in the UK where you can actually drive onto the beach. The beach stretches for miles and is a haven for beach games or just sitting and watching the view. We loved being able to drive onto the sand (£5 charge) – just beware of the tides. On the day we visited a motorhome had to be rescued as the tide has come in around it. I don’t think the owners would have been too happy!
We visited Porthmadog – a seaside town with a pretty harbour. There are various shops and restaurants. We found an excellent fish & chip shop where we sat outside and watched the world go by.
So, what did we think of Woody the camper?
This was the first time Adam and I had tried the camper van and we found it surprisingly spacious. It was good to be able to drive down narrow lanes and park it anywhere so it would be perfect for trips to Cornwall, Scotland, Wales or even Guernsey or Jersey. It was a bonus to have the full bathroom and kitchen on board and the lounge area to relax and watch TV in.
The sofas convert into a double bed easily and quickly. We found the bed super comfy and watched the stars through the skylight.
Overall, we love Woody and hope to add more to the fleet in the future
